How Does Caring Cradle® Help Nurses?
Nurses Prefer Caring Cradle for Perinatal Bereavement Care
Nurses Prefer Caring Cradle
Nurses prefer having a Caring Cradle available in their unit because the Caring Cradle was designed with the needs of the hospital staff in mind.
The Caring Cradle is self-contained. There are never any fluids to be replaced, or disposed of. There are no parts to replace. There are not any additional costs to the hospital to keep the unit running as intended.
Nurses have nothing to track or reorder. Other than wiping the unit down following each use (with any hospital-approved cleaner) the unit requires no further attention.
At Caring Cradle® we know you want to provide more peace for mothers of stillborn babies.

I knew about Cuddle Cots from working maternity services in other hospitals but had never heard of the Caring Cradle. I was blown away with how beautiful they were and simple to use.

The benefits of Caring Cradle from a nurse's perspective
1. Provide exceptional care that supports mental and emotional healing.
In these terrible situations, there is an unspoken burden. The death of a child can place an extremely heavy emotional weight on the nurse as well. The Caring Cradle provides an outlet to feel they are doing something right during a tragic situation.
When a nurse has a Caring Cradle to offer the mother, the nurse is able to provide the exceptional medical care, compassion, and comfort that is both the calling and the heart’s desire of all nurses.
Mothers report that having this extra time is a treasured resource to draw on for the years to follow: helping them grieve and most importantly, remembering their child.
2. Allow families uninterrupted time with confidence that you won’t need to check in on them constantly.
The nurse will not need to remain bedside with a distraught mother. The Caring Cradle is designed to assist the nurse, as it requires no supervision, monitoring, or maintenance. Once turned on, the Caring Cradle may be left on, without any need for further intervention by the nurse.
The Caring Cradle operates consistently and does not create confusion during shift changes and staff rotations. There will not be a long list of additional tasks to unload onto the nurse taking over.
3. The Caring Cradle integrates into the unit’s flow.
A Caring Cradle will fit seamlessly into a unit’s existing care protocols. It will not interrupt the pacing or the protocol of L&D or postpartum care.
It is easy to clean and requires little-to-no maintenance. There are no tubes, wires or fluids to monitor or replace. It does not require replacement parts.
There are no special requirements for clean up. It can be wiped down with any hospital approved cleaner.
The Caring Cradle is extremely easy to use. No more late night frustrated calls from staff "trying to figure out how this thing works" (which was what we got with our previous product), and the Caring Cradle allows our parents to keep their infants with them longer, spend private quality time with them and make memories during their difficult time. We really do love our Caring Cradles.

4. Special training is not required to use it, especially for families or patients.
While we do offer a 15-minute training video that can be saved and shared for training purposes, their truly is very little to “learn” to use it. The Caring Cradle looks like a real cradle rather than a complicated medical device, and its use is self explanatory. The design does not distract from its purpose.
With a Caring Cradle the mother will have the opportunity to do what she wants and what she needs: spend private, uninterrupted time with her baby, have time to make memories, and the time to say good-bye.
5. It is often the nurses who advocate to have a Caring Cradle in their unit.
It is usually a nurse who advocates for the kind of quality care that can’t be measured or evaluated by a hospital board. Many hospitals have added Caring Cradle to their units because of a compassionate nurse who spoke up for what grieving families truly need.
We are most often contacted by nurses who experience the devastation of a family's grief firsthand. After they’ve been in a position where they can provide a Caring Cradle to a grieving mother, they don’t want to find themselves in the same position without one.
The Caring Cradle is a tool for the nurse, as much as a gift of time for the mother. Providing this specialized tool at the right time says more to a family than anything that could be put into words.
Nurses want to provide compassionate bereavement care to their patients. With the Caring Cradle, they can.
A Message to Our Nurses
When I designed the Caring Cradle, I knew that nurses needed help when babies were stillborn.
Nurses want to provide compassionate and caring help.
When you give a nurse a Caring Cradle, they are able to provide that compassionate, caring assistance AND give the mother what she wants more than anything in the moment: time with her baby.
We appreciate all nurses. Thanks especially to those providing care and comfort to mothers who experience this heartbreak.
Thank you to everyone who has made it possible to provide this help to nurses in the U.S., Canada, and Columbia.

The Caring Cradle is a portable cooling unit designed for hospitals, and intended for use immediately following infant demise.
A cradle that gently cools the baby’s body for families suffering from infant loss
The Caring Cradle gives more time with families that have experienced the loss of an infant. Our cradles are designed to slow the biological effects that are experienced with the loss of a newborn.
Sturdy, simple, beneficial
The bassinet comes assembled and is ready for use. When teams are notified that they are expecting a delivery of an infant who has died or that an infant may pass soon after birth, the original, once plugged in, will be ready for use in 30 minutes. Benefits of the Caring Cradle include ease of use, freedom from wires and hoses, with no need for monitoring or supervision by medical staff or family. The Caring Cradle provides the extra time that families need.

Making Memories in Those Precious Moments
"Frankly, I just needed more time. Time to process what just happened. Time to take a breath. Time to think that maybe we should have called a photographer. I wish I had had time to snuggle him and rock him. A Caring Cradle® is an amazing support tool that can provide that extra time to a family that finds themselves in a situation of needing more time."
